Counseling Program

Hi there! My name is Emily, and I am thrilled to begin my 6th year at Alice Carlson.

The heart of my counseling program is to build authentic, trusting relationships with all families at Alice Carlson and support each learner in their social, emotional, and academic growth.

This is my 13th year in education and 10th year in counseling. Prior to Fort Worth ISD, I worked at Westlake Academy IBO World School, followed by experience in educational consulting and community mental health counseling. As a Trust Based Relational Intervention® Practitioner, I work with children and families as well as train others in implementing TBRI.

I love to support and empower children (as well as caregivers) with practical self-regulation, coping strategies, and tools for navigating big feelings. I also focus on building a growth mindset, connection, and self-efficacy as a foundation of mental health and wellness.

I graduated from Texas A&M University and then attended the University of North Texas where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a masters in Counseling, focusing on both school counseling and community mental health during a three-year clinical program.

Most importantly, I am a proud mama to two incredible boys, Levi (9) and Jonah (7) and married to my best friend, Ryan. I love spending time with my family outdoors, traveling, and overindulging in houseplants.

It truly does take a village, and I’m honored to walk alongside you as we learn and love our children well. Parenting is not always easy. Being a kid is not always easy. But we can do hard things together.
