Parent Involvement and Support

Parent Involvement is a priority at Carlson and parents are expected to become involved with their children's education.  There are many ways in which parents can support their children.  For example, parents serve on the advisory council, serve as sponsors for Friday Clubs, or participate on project-steering committees.  Upon enrollment of your child, parents are asked to sign a service commitment to volunteer a minimum of 20 HOURS annually to assist the school.  Some examples of volunteer services include: 

 

During/At School

  • Making Copies
  • Preparing classroom materials
  • Stuffing folders, preparing backpacks for dismissal
  • Reading with students
  • Field Day
  • Playing math games or practicing math with students
  • Leading a Friday Club or Enrichment Cluster
  • Assissting with an applied learning project
  • Presenting to a class

At Home

  • Preparing classroom materials
  • Making costumes/set designs for musicals
  • Organizing an event or classroom activity
  • Labeling, organizing, creating classroom materials
