Intersession

Carlson operates on a year-round calendar.  The school year is organized into four nine-week sessions.

Intersession workshops are provided in the fall and spring, including both an academic and an enrichment strand.  The academic strand addresses targeted student needs in language arts and mathematics.  The enrichment strand offers a wide variety of opportunities in such areas as drama, hands-on-science, crafts, zoo, and art.

Students are invited to Academic Intersession based on teacher observation, teacher data collection, and MAP test scores in math and reading.  Academic Intersession is from 8:00 - 11:45 am each day.

Students who are not invited to participate in the academic strand may sign up for a spot in one of the enrichment opportunities or can enjoy an extra week of vacation.
